sbo bz sbobet Gareth Southgate has some tough decisions to make. With friendlies against Netherlands and Italy out of the way, he must now finalise his 23-man England squad for the World Cup.

Southgate has said "there will be 30 or 31 players in contention" for a place on the plane to Russia but he is expected to narrow that down ahead of the friendly with Nigeria on June 2, with the deadline on June 4.

Here, we take a look at who is likely to make the cut, which players will be hoping for a strong finish to the Premier League season to force their way into Southgate's thinking, and the surprise selections the England boss might turn to…

The certanties
Jordan Pickford, Jack Butland, Kyle Walker, Danny Rose, Kieran Trippier, John Stones, Eric Dier, Jordan Henderson, Dele Alli, Jesse Lingard, Raheem Sterling, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Harry Kane, Jamie Vardy, Marcus Rashford

Having shared the No1 jersey against Netherlands and Italy, Jordan Pickford and Jack Butland are clearly Southgate's top two when it comes to goalkeeper options. Ahead of them in defence, England regulars Kyle Walker, Danny Rose and John Stones will be on the plane to Russia, with Kieran Trippier now filling a key position at right wing-back in Southgate's favoured 3-4-3 and 3-5-2 formations. sbo bz sbobet

The likely lads
Joe Hart, Ashley Young, Harry Maguire, Joe Gomez, Phil Jones, Ryan Bertrand, Jake Livermore, Adam Lallana, Danny Welbeck

Despite his struggles for form, Joe Hart's experience and mentality is expected to earn him a place among the goalkeeping trio, while defenders Harry Maguire, Joe Gomez and Ryan Bertrand have all won plaudits from Southgate and Phil Jones will be in contention.

Still to convince Southgate
Chris Smalling, Luke Shaw, Fabian Delph, Jack Wilshere, James Tarkowski, Alfie Mawson, Gary Cahill, Michael Keane, Theo Walcott, Michail Antonio

Another injury sustained in the latest England camp was a further setback for Jack Wilshere's hopes of a place on the plane and he will have to prove he is in peak condition when the squad is named. James Tarkowski and Alfie Mawson's hopes will have been raised after a place in the latest squad, but fellow centre-back Michael Keane knows his form will have to improve if he is to return to the camp, after being involved in November and then left out in March.

The outsiders
Nick Pope, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Lewis Cook, Ben Mee, Lewis Dunk, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Harry Winks, Danny Drinkwater, Jonjo Shelvey, Ross Barkley, Ryan Sessegnon, Phil Foden, Jadon Sancho, James Ward-Prowse, Jamaal Lascelles, Jack Cork, Nathaniel Chalobah, Andros Townsend, Daniel Sturridge, Callum Wilson, Tammy Abraham, Glenn Murray, Dominic Solanke, Andy Carroll

Southgate has experimented with a large number of players during his time in charge and shown he's not afraid to promote youth team players to the senior squad - so there is a long list of outsiders who will maintain hopes of a call from the manager. sbo bz sbobet

Rangers caretaker Jimmy Nicholl criticises referee over Aberdeen penalty

ส โบ เบ็ ต Jimmy Nicholl criticised referee Steven McLean for the penalty decision that almost wrecked Rangers' bid for second spot in the Scottish Premiership. The official handed Aberdeen a 14th-minute spot-kick after his Pittodrie namesake Kenny McLean tumbled under pressure from Alfredo Morelos - but replays appeared to show the Colombian frontman got a touch to the ball. The Dons midfielder tucked home his penalty but Ross McCrorie rescued a 1-1 draw and a vital point for the Ibrox team to send the three-team battle for the runners-up slot to the final day of the season.

Caretaker boss Nicholl was furious with referee McLean for putting his side's chances at risk, saying: "We can't afford (the referee's decision). If it hadn't happened we would've continued doing what we had been doing during the first 15 minutes you would like to think. "Whatever threat they had we were dealing with as best we could. "It wasn't a penalty and it's disappointing the referee gave it, especially if there's a doubt. If there's no doubt I'd be standing there saying: 'What are you doing, Alfredo? For goodness sake! You've cost us the game!'

"I'd understand if it was a blatant, stupid thing to do in the box. But it wasn't obvious. It isn't August with three games gone. It is the end of the season with two games to go and those were three points I thought we deserved and never got." Gers remain a point behind Derek McInnes' men but Hibernian can draw level with the Light Blues if they beat Hearts on Wednesday night, meaning it will be all to play for when the Reds go to Celtic Park and the Ibrox side to Easter Road on Sunday's final day of the season. As well as being unhappy with referee McLean, Nicholl was frustrated his men allowed themselves to be affected by the referee's call. ส โบ เบ็ ต

"They had to get on with it, but they didn't," he said. "They got frustrated with the decision and lost their way. That was the annoying thing. We had to get them in at half-time and get the football head back on again. "If you get frustrated with refereeing decisions, you lose concentration and you don't do your jobs properly. They did that and it was a great second 45 minutes. "It was a good goal from Ross McCrorie, a determined young player who went with conviction." ส โบ เบ็ ต

Unai Emery making tough decisions at Arsenal that Arsene Wenger would not, says Ian Wright

sbo Former Arsenal striker Ian Wright believes Unai Emery is showing he is tougher than Arsene Wenger already. Speaking on The Debate, Wright explained how Emery's ruthless substitutions in the defeat to Chelsea would not have been made by his predecessor.

Merson's predictions
The Spaniard replaced Granit Xhaka at half-time following a poor opening 45 minutes and he then took off Mesut Ozil with 20 minutes to go. "What was encouraging was that he made those substitutions, big substitutions for me," Wright said."Xhaka would have stayed on under Wenger, so would Ozil, and what's that said now in that dressing is that 'no one's going to be safe, if you don't do what we need you to do, you're coming off' and I'm pleased to see that."

Emery has shown he can lose patience with his players in the short term and Wright believes the Arsenal head coach will be looking to bring in more players who are better suited to his style, sbo rather than continue with what he currently has at his disposal.Wright said: "It's going to be a massive problem for him because I don't know if he's going to get the kind of monies that he's going to need to make the kind of signings that are going to, hopefully, help him in the positions he's going to need.

"You've got to get yourself to the next transfer window sbo and then you can get someone who might be able to come in and implement what you want to do more because you need a few players to come in who are used to playing like that because I don't think a lot of them are."
